Frequently asked questions

Can I still sell you my car without a V5 registration document?

If you don't have a V5 you will need to get one before we can buy the car but this shouldn't be difficult. All you have to do is apply for a new one by completing a V62 online at www.direct.gov.uk or pick one up at the post office and do it that way instead. It must be registered in your name and at your address.

If my car has no MOT are you still interested in it?

Yes. We don't need your car to be in tiptop condition for it to be an attractive prospect for us. We buy a lot of different cars in different states of repair. If your car has no MOT we are still keen to take a look and if it requires work, we can take this into account in our valuation.

My car is Left Hand Drive, is this of any interest to you?

Yes, absolutely. Get in touch and we can give you a quotation.

Do you take imported cars?

We do, you just have to remember - the valuation system is slightly different for imports than for the equivalent non-import but we're happy to go through this with you.

I want to sell my car but it has lots of problems including a broken timing belt and a gearbox that is virtually useless. Is there any point in contacting you?

Yes, even if the car looks to be on its last legs we are still interested in taking a look it might be worth more than you think! Give us a call to find out.

Would you still want to buy my car even if the bodywork is damaged?

Yes, damaged bodywork is pretty common in most cars so we are used to dealing with this. We take cars with varying degrees of damage so don’t let this stop you contacting us.

I’ve been offered more money by a car dealer to part exchange my car. Can I do this with you?

No, we tend to steer clear of this kind of thing as we like to keep things simple. We just offer cash so both sides know exactly what they're getting. If you do go ahead with a part exchange, watch out for a large margin in the car you're looking to buy - the dealer can make you feel like you're getting good value for money by offsetting
some of this against the valuation of your part exchange.

I’ve been offered £2,000 part exchange allowance for my used car against a new vehicle with the Government's scrappage scheme. Is this too good to be true?

Often people don’t realise there is an immediate loss involved in buying a brand new car. There’s also rumours that that some carmakers have increased their prices to balance out the discount so you may not be getting that much of a good deal. If you’re looking for that type of discount give us a call as we've been able to do similar for our
customers in the past.

I still have outstanding finance attached to my car so presumably I can't sell it?

This isn’t a problem. If you want to sell us the financed car, you can either contact your finance company to settle your account yourself, in which case all we need is written confirmation from your finance company that they have received full cleared payment. Alternatively you can contact the company and ask them for a settlement figure to pass onto us and then we'll do the rest - data protection laws require you to obtain the settlement figure yourself or we would do it for you! We need the settlement figure as a written statement from the finance company. All we do is deduct this amount from the valuation of your car and pay the company on your behalf.

Please note - if you owe the finance company more than the sale price of your car we will need you to pay the balance of the excess before we come and collect the car.

How do you do the valuation?

We have a lot of experience in this industry so a lot of our processes are based on our own experiences and the feedback we get from customers about our estimates being spot on. After 20 years we have a lot of experience to rely on when it comes to pricing and valuation but to make sure we are in line with current market values and pricing, we also use guides and auction prices.

How long does it take for you to transfer the money?

We'll aim to have it with you within 24 hours as we know that this is the most important part of the process for you! We can make the payment however you want - cash, cheque, transfer.
